Brought in-house as the first headcount to build the first Health Economics and Outcomes Research Department within Medical Affairs; established credibility sufficiently to increase funding by 3-fold in 8 months and hire 2 additional researchers. Developed best practices in HEOR and coordinated effective interface and knowledge sharing across departments to gain support for the new department. Led global health economic research activities for HIV and hepatitis, the largest franchises. Activities included retrospective database analyses, chart review, qualitative analyses, meta-analyses, cost-effectiveness and budget impact models, dossier development, and launch strategies for Complera, Stribild, and Sovaldi.

Provided scientific support on products and disease states to key healthcare decision makers, including medical and pharmacy directors of commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, physician groups, HMOs, and PBMs. Brought insights to commercial and medical teams on the evolving payer landscape, short- and long-term concerns for various types of payers and how perspectives differ according to accountability structures.

Led research activities to support transplant and hepatitis C compounds in development; activities include understanding competitive environment, identifying key gaps and patient subpopulations, providing input on clinical development plans, and developing payer value propositions.

Performed economic analyses for Scott & White Hospital Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee and Medication Utilization Reviews, and conducted quantitative analyses of clinical and economic outcomes of various programs, such as a pharmacist-led medication management program.

Advised large employers on health and welfare plan offerings, including: design, funding, short and long term savings strategies, marketplace trends, compliance issues, vendor offerings, and employee communications.
