My name is Yoselyn Owolabi, and I’m a second-year Political Science Major and Legal Communications Minor at Howard University from Houston, Texas. I am a successful and hard-working student, prepared to utilize my resilience & leadership skills to conquer the real world. As an Afro-Latina in the United States, my passion derived from social justice films such as "Just Mercy" and "When They See Us" and stimulated my 700+ hours of community service involvement and academic excellence. By leading my high school's Cultural Awareness Club and Student Government to greatness within advocacy, civil rights, politics, and history, I've been able to deepen my passion for enhancing the legal field. I desire to become either a criminal or civil rights defense attorney, allowing affected individuals to experience my version of granting back justice. Releasing the wrongfully convicted, developing a program to educate juveniles about the entirety of their rights, researching death row inmates, and reducing harsh sentences for petty crimes remain a small amount of my dauntless aspirations. I'm an open learner ready to ingest any recommendations or tips that challenge me to grow professionally and intellectually.
