Reporting to the Senior VP, Finance & Chief Operating Officer, I am responsible for developing and directing the institution’s overall IT strategy. Insuring that the appropriate tactical plans, infrastructure and programming are in place to support the University teaching, learning and administrative activities. Working closely with senior management from administrative and academic areas to coordinate data systems policies and procedures. Managing three groups: The Network Infrastructure, the Support Services and the Application Development. Assuring both secure and robust hardware/software environment appropriate to the School’s requirements and actively facilitating and supporting the integration of business applications for both academic and administrative activities. Teaching (part-time) Business Information Systems to fourth grade university students.Accomplishment:• Increased the levels of efficiency and effectiveness through developing several ‘integrated’ business applications.• The design and construction of a new data center that provided high level of physical security, and environmental considerations to ensure reliable and efficient long-term services. • The design and implementation of new wired and wireless Networks throughout the new campus.• Consolidated and centralized the IT budget that helped improve the levels of customer service while seeking ways for IT to help staff and faculty do their jobs more effectively.

I directed and coordinated the development of several cross-functional web-based applications and databases ensuring stable operation, availability and reliability. Accomplishment:• Significant quality increase and effective services through the establishment of a Master Control Room and Broadcast Facility that provided live scheduling for its digital satellite TV service. • Significant reduction in operation expenditure through the establishment of an Earth Station & Uplink Facility next to the Master Control Room to transmit the video signal to the satellite. • Successful negotiation of satellite contracts with major satellite service providers in Europe resulted in significant cost saving. • Working with the CEO and external consultants on creating strategic plans for the organization, and assisting different departments in creating departmental business plans. • Managed the Human Resource department; activities included recruitment, reviewing and updating the staff policy manual, drafting new policies, creating a new appraisal system, personal development plan and staff retreats. • Responsible for the Office Services department including security, work permits, visas and many other services.

Being part of the IT BackOffice team, I was made responsible for running and maintaining more than 35 servers and also for several technical projects with different teams:• Standardized all software and hardware workstations for Canadian users.• Installed and configured Microsoft Systems Management Server and SQL database. • Implemented and maintained Microsoft Exchange Server. • Provided tier-3 level of technical support to the Help Desk team • Planed, created and distributed software packages to thousands of users world-wide, using remote tools and different software applications. • Was part of the Y2K desktop remediation project, which covered more than 12,000 users.
