I utilise my project management skills and specialist transport knowledge to provide project advice, manage community consultation and ensure efficient and effective project management in delivery of the work programmes. In addition, I support the day to day delivery of strategic air services operated out of Oban airport and delivery of airport related projects.

The post also provides transport policy input to the Council and Community Planning Partnership policies and functions, and delivery the Council’s Transport Strategy.

Leading a team of professional and technical officers in specifying, procuring and managing the provision of client transport including home-to-school transport for 12,000 mainstream and 700 Additional Support Needs pupils; and Social Work clients accessing services including Daycare, Adult Learning opportunities and specialist support groups. I also oversaw the management of the Council’s internal passenger transport fleet of 80 vehicles and associated drivers, directly providing education, social work and demand responsive transport (DRT) passenger transport services.Selected key achievements in this role were:1. Managing the assessment of transport requirements for Social Work transport in Aberdeenshire and the subsequent rationalisation and move of responsibility for provision of adult social work transport into my team.2. Introduction of new tendering approach and methods to ensure the future buy-in of contractors in the procurement process while continuing to represent best value to the Council.

Leading the transport and logistics stream of the joint private/public Sustainable Glasgow project working with private and public sector partners to develop innovative options to reduce the carbon emissions of Glasgow by 30% within 10 years.

Responsible for managing projects, controlling budgets and authorising expenditure, managing external contractors and suppliers, and leading analysis of operational activities including economic analysis and securing best value. In addition undertook a wide range of integrated working with external organisations including representing SPT at high-level Single Outcome Agreement (SOA) meetings with member Councils to determine future SOA targets and at Community Planning Partnership (CPP) Board meetings. Working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and drawing upon transport experience to identify and manage topics relevant to SPT’s role and responsibilities.

Primarily responsible for leading and managing projects and studies including STAG based studies to develop policy and strategy related to SPT’s role as a Regional Transport Partnership (RTP). Additional responsibilities included monitoring and controlling budgets and expenditure, collating SPT’s annual capital fund process, managing external contractors and consultants and leading teams of internal colleagues and external consultants undertaking specific projects. I also worked extensively with external partners including organising the SPT-member Council liaison group, providing regional transportation expertise and preparing reports for senior officers, elected members, member Councils and key stakeholders.

Responsible for all elements of developing and implementing transportation policy within the Council. This covered a wide range of areas including project managing studies and design and construction works and providing transportation input into the development planning process.
