Worked as the lead architect of Myriad’s Alien product, responsible for designing the overall system architecture, guiding the product development/integration teams, and leading the technical communications with customers and partners. Alien is a customized Android runtime that enables Android apps running on non-Android platforms.Adapted Android dynamic linker to load bionic-based libraries on top of glibc, which powers the first Alien AngryBirds demo on Nokia N900 at MWC 2011.Designed and led the implementation of Alien integration layer which allows the easy integration with typical middleware components, e.g. Qt, DirectFB, Wayland, etc.Led the Alien reference implementations on different target platforms, e.g. Ubuntu desktop, Broadcom 7425 setop box, Raspberry Pi 2, etc.Collaborated with Netzyn to design and implement the Alien Cloud solution, which runs Android app on the AWS cloud server and streams app UI to the remote devices for user interaction. Innovatively implemented the way of running multiple Alien instances on the same server, and using QEMU to run Android ARM NDK apps on x86 CPU architecture.Led the Alien migration on different Android versions (Froyo -> Jellybean -> KitKat -> Lollipop -> Marshmallow). Refactored Alien architecture to minimize the migration efforts while keeping Android compatibility.Architecture review and code review of the Alien integration on Jolla's Sailfish OS. Guided the team to tackle the technical challenges on critical features, e.g. 3D/media hardware acceleration, multi-window support, native IME integration, etc.
