• I worked in the Microbiology Department supporting Registered Laboratory Technicians by performing pre-analytical duties such as:
• Responsible for receiving, processing, and sorting out high volume clinical laboratory specimens and requisitions
• Performed computer entry (LIMS), record logs, and proper screening of database to make sure all specimens are accounted for – sometimes requiring investigation of unaccounted specimens
• Prepared specimens for testing and analysis following proper SOPs to ensure safety and quality standards in BSL-2 and BSL-3
• Stayed current on new SOPs and partake in audits
• Prepared gram stains and plated aerobic, anaerobic, urine, and stool cultures, MRSA, and many more with proper media in BSL-2
