- Led a team of three engineers to design and develop a Scala based online forecaster that serves serialized linear regression models to predict retail promotions demand and redemptions, capable of forecasting promotions with up to 500 products, 100 stores and 6 months duration in less than 60 seconds.- Contributed to the development of a data platform that leverages Scala, Spark, Akka and Client Server architecture to manage the execution of Spark applications on Kubernetes and data persistence and governance on ADLS- Led the build and automation of ETL pipelines leveraging Spark on Kubernetes and Airflow- Established a Scala Spark framework to define retail metrics and their calculations and manage their executions, resulting in elimination of runtime errors due to typos in metric names and in a consistent and more readable code base.- Defined project requirements, translated business and data requirements into actionable technical solutions and oversaw their successful implementation.- Hired 9 software and data engineers and mentored 5 engineers by helping them expand on their technical knowledge and set up career objectives.

- Designed and implemented RESTful APIs and event-driven messaging in a microservices environment leveraging Scala, Akka HTTP, Akka Actors and ActiveMQ- Defined a framework for migrating schema and data in production by implementing a python driver script that: - Manages ordered execution of CQL statements to migrate tables. - Manages execution of Spark code to migrate data.- Optimized a legacy Scala Based online forecaster by improving Futures handling, eliminating nested loops and leveraging more adequate data structures such as parallel collections, resulting in reducing forecast timings from up to 30 mins to under two minutes for the same promotions.- Designed and developed a configurable advanced search Scala module that looks up elements in configured hierarchies by user provided predicates capable of handling different attributes, providing search capabilities over a hierarchy of 500K elements in milliseconds.- Hired and mentored five software engineering interns.
