University Pharmacy is a part of the Students' Health Services at the University of Pittsburgh. It serves students and local residents of the community.

Promote Pittpharmacy to prospective students from college and high school levels through in-person and virtual tours, demonstrations and specialized programming.

Bridging the Gaps is a summer internship that provides graduate students in the healthcare field with opportunities to work directly with local organizations that target underserved communities in Pittsburgh. Interns work in interdisciplinary pairs to provide health-related services, outreach and support to organizations, and complete a project at the end of the internship. I interned at the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center – Early Head Start program. I learned about the underprivileged communities of Hazelwood, East Liberty and the Greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area and their issues as they pertain to childcare services and accessibility to healthcare. Our final project, an “Onboarding Handbook for Teachers”, comprised of 127 pages discussing topics ranging from Employee’s benefits and perks to the importance of immunizations and common classroom infections and how to prevent them. Selected for presentation at the End of the Year symposium.

During senior year, I was responsible for three sections of Introductory Biology I labs and two sections of Anatomy and Physiology I labs. My duties included, but were not limited to, presenting lectures, preparing models and microscope slides, administering tests and grading assignments. During my time as an instructor, I learned to deliver an inclusive and wholly educational experience to a diverse group of students while still providing individualized mentoring. This opportunity allowed me to develop my leadership and interpersonal skills in a professional setting.

In collaboration with University of Connecticut Health Center, the purpose was to genetically engineer transgenic mice by turning off Has2, a gene abundantly expressed in cartilage cells, to examine its role in the development of osteoarthritis. I was trained on and practiced DNA extraction, genotype determination using PCR and gel electrophoresis, and tissue dissection, fixation, sectioning and staining. Furthermore, I actively participated during the summer terms and academic semesters in maintaining and up-keeping the mouse colony.Presented research findings at the first Developmental Biology Convention at Ithaca College (2019)

Evaluated the prevalence and antibiotic-resistant profile of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) in the University of Hartford student population. My involvement as a student-researcher was to collect survey-based data on participants, acquire nasal cavity samples, and isolation of S. aureus strains and identification of its anti-biotic capabilities through gram-staining, genome sequencing and Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion susceptibility test.
