The Workplace Learning team at the Centre for Student Involvement and Careers supports a suite of programs and stakeholders that provide meaningful on campus work experience to UBC students. Some of my major responsibilities include:- Designing an intentional curriculum for employers to support them through the typical HR cycle of over 2,500 student.

Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre

• The UBC Welcome Centre is UBC’s first welcome function aimed at making the university more accessible and welcoming to campus visitors and UBC alumni. The program is hosted at the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre.
• Recruited, hired, and managed the onbaording all the Welcome Centre student staff utilizing the hands-on orientation program and thorough long-term training plan I created.
• Communicated and trained staff on the Welcome Centre customer service values that have surpassed visitor expectations, designed and developed operational policies.
• Established strong partnerships with departments within UBC, Tourism Vancouver members, and visitors to UBC as a means of crafting and communicating our brand message and program name.
• Selected by Senior Management to institute and sit on the Safety Committee for the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre. Since the creation of the committee there have been no workplace injuries in the building.
• Enlisted a team of Welcome Centre student staff to work alongside me in producing four categories of self-guided campus tours for varying campus visitors.

• Leading and planning the major MS Society events such as the ScotiaBank MS Walk.
• Working in a team with other committee members and attending monthly meetings to communicate with the Committee leading up to the major events.
• Providing direction and leadership onsite during the event days and ensuring that the event runs smoothly.

• Performing in-depth review of the current Vantage Point customer base and creating portfolios.
• Engaging in primary market research and identifying approximately 500 potential Vantage Point customers in the non-profit market.
• Developing a strategy for how to reach the identified potential customers and recommendations for how Vantage Point can increase current client engagement.

• Advised and supported international students and Canadians from abroad in their UBC enrollment process, from prospective student, to applicant, to newly-admitted student.
• Gave guidance parents and to counselors from international schools and advisors from other post-secondary institutions, regarding admission to the University through phone advising, email advising, and face-to-face.
• Administrative services included mailing and couriering admission letters and packages, and sorting and recording application documents received by mail and courier.

• Residence Advisor for 40 new International and Aboriginal students; enforced residence standards, provided peer support, and planned social events.
• Facilitated weekly meetings of up to 30 students, teaching them collaborative learning techniques while also providing one on one and group coaching sessions on various academic and student life related topics.
• Assisted in the hiring process for recruitment of Junior Student leaders.
