Dr Yousef Pipelzadeh is a highly accomplished professional with over 15 years of experience in power systems research and the energy industry. As the Director of European Operations for PTC, Manitoba Hydro International (MHI), his particular focus is on developing large scale power systems with high levels of inverter based resources and addressing operational challenging issues of system stability towards net zero targets. Yousef has been the technical lead on many European projects such as the critical National Grid UK wide area model development project. Yousef earned his PhD in Power Systems from Imperial College London in 2012, where he published over 10 top-tier papers and was awarded a Research Fellow position until 2015. He has also served as the lead consultant on numerous projects with EPRI USA and National Grid through Imperial Consultants, and spent several months at the offices of National Grid (UK), State Grid (China), and MHI (Canada). Yousef was nominated by the British Standard Institute as a UK Principal Expert and is an expert member of IEC, contributing to SC 8A 'Grid Integration of Renewable Energy Generation'. He has also been an active member of CENELEC, contributing to the development of guidelines and standards on 'System Aspects of HVDC grids'.
