As a consultant, I contracted with various organizations ranging from healthcare, higher education, and transportation. A few key projects in my tenure as a consultant would include putting together architecture for a healthcare platform based on open source software, idea evaluation on data to reduce vehicle casualties, developing a workshop on Responsive Web Application Development using MEAN stack, and delivering a technical talk on Software Defined Networks.

As an associate professor, I instructed and mentored computer engineering students as they worked through their coursework. I also was selected to advise a select number of Senior students for their final semester project. In one instance, I advised a batch of senior students to develop a mobile application with backend support to predict the probability of a person having a heart ailment in the future using the dataset on UCI repository. This project used AngularJS & Bootstrap frameworks, JEE, and NFC technology. The student’s work was recognized in the best public service category project among all the final projects.

I was hired to manage 4 different product engineering teams in India Engineering Centre and partner with the respective peer teams in North America and China. I provided technical consulting and served as a SME for systems management. I built a development team of 5 top performing engineers for the Code Analyst product. The team was able to release the product successfully and 2 months ahead of schedule. In addition to managing all product development, I focused in on process improvement to work to improve global communication to prevent delays and loss of knowledge.

I worked for Sun Microsystems as a Software Engineering Manager in 1999 – 2002 and rejoined the team in 2006 and worked until 2009. Initially, I was a key contributor and manager of the new team of 18 engineers (incl. 8 contractors). This team revived Solstice Enterprise Network Manager, an enterprise network management platform product that was shelved. We released two (new) versions of the product in the first 14 months. Later, I was the Engineering Manager of a development team working on Netra High Availability Framework product using Sun RPC, C++ in the UNIX environment. I also was a member of the product performance and hardware platform task groups. When I rejoined the team in 2006, I was asked to improve the skills of a junior team of engineers from an acquisition; and take accountability for all people management & deliverables for the team. Also, I partnered with the remote peer Customer Engineering teams working on JEE based EAI and SOA platform products ICAN and JCAPS to resolve customer escalations and contribute any necessary features to the product. During my time with Sun Microsystems, I was known for being drastically increasing productivity, developing team members, and meeting our project timelines ahead of schedule.

EDS brought me on to lead client’s (Department of Veterans Healthcare) enterprise messaging team at Largo that was tasked to implement messaging solutions to advance the goal of modernizing the Veterans Affairs Healthcare IT software applications. One of the key efforts was to integrate a legacy application and Oracle based COTS product. In addition to mentoring; and developing integration solutions using Vitria BusinessWare software, I served as the team liaison with multiple departments’ project teams during the entire SDLC of the respective projects.
