Engineering a mobile configuration device for smart actuators. Technical base was a WiFi capable embedded Linux board acting as a hotspot for end-user devices (Smartphone/Tablet-PC/Notebook) and serving a configuration interface in a web-browser. This was the first in-company use of Node.JS as a server platform.Special aspects; - a C-programmed driver to bridge the asynchronous Node.JS "world" to the physical RS485 bus used to communicate with the actuators. - Web-sockets used for push messaging of server-side events (bus scans) to the client.
