Wrote reward structures improving agent ability to defeat hostile missiles using countermeasures by 95%. Increased efficient usage of countermeasure by 84%.

Visual Machines Group at UCLAUndergraduate research project supervised on the applications of 3D Gaussian Splatting for physics simulations. Tested and implemented pipeline to convert 2D images to 3D Gaussian Splatting representation and 3D mesh for use with Blender physics simulations. Built web app front end with Python and Streamlit and used Google PaliGemma model to extract object qualities from original images to set physics properties for the 3D meshes in Blender. Completed in a CUDA 12 environment in Ubuntu with Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti GPU.

Part of STR’s team for autonomous drone guidance and tactical swarm project using DARPA distributed-system architecture. Designed and implemented a testing regimen to increase system robustness in simulator engine and 3-D environments. Communicated and collaborated directly with developers from other companies to set up and adapt a 3D-simulation environment for STR’s testing. Led first documentation efforts for the system repository and tactic capabilities. Improved drone surveillance tactic by optimizing formation positions based on environmental obstacles.

Designed and prototyped an object detection system in Keras/Tensorflow that reduces reliance on human-annotated, pre-existing datasets by training Mask-RCNN object segmentation model with synthetic data. Enabled generalization of the system to different applications by extracting object position data and separately classifying objects using fine-tunable MobileNet model layers. Applied novel system to build an automated cashier that calculates total price of food items on a tray. Submitted to and won multiple Science Research competitions. Awards include: Genius Olympiad Finalist, 1st Place JSHS, USAID Science Champion Award.
