About Yu-Chieh Wang

I am a Director and Principal Scientist who leads R&D programs to develop innovative solutions for challenges in human stem cell technologies and regenerative medicine at Resilience US, Inc. My research interest and expertise are in the interlocking areas of stem cell biology, cancer biology, glycobiology and translational medicine, where the invention and delivery of complex medicines for disease can be accelerated through addressing the sciences and bottlenecks of process development in human stem cells.Prior to joining Resilience, I held faculty positions in two research-oriented academic institutes where I built and directed a research group as a Principal Investigator with active funding from government agencies and private foundations. My group in academia has established and leveraged cutting-edge approaches including human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), organoids, gene editing, and systems biology techniques to make novel discoveries and scientific contributions through studying cell biology, gene alterations, neurodevelopmental abnormalities, and anticancer mechanisms relevant to the alterations of glycoenzymes.Based on my diverse research and project-management experience in the areas of stem cell biology, cell signaling, disease modeling, target identification, and experimental therapeutics, I am highly effective in shaping and executing research strategies, ensuring rigorous and productive R&D activities, communicating and working with scientists and clinicians, fostering research collaboration and business partnership, and leveraging budgets/resources to make impactful contributions to understanding of diseases, identification of novel targets, and development of innovative therapies and technologies.

    I am a Principle Scientist and Director who leads an active R&D group and discovery programs to address the sciences and bottlenecks of process and analysis development for human stem cells and complex medicines in the Cell Therapy Franchise at Resilience US, Inc.With formal training and extensive (>15 years) experience in cancer and stem cell research, I have worked as a faculty member in research-oriented academic institutes where I established and sustained a productive group that made notable discoveries and scientific contributions. My scientific expertise is mostly related to glycoenzymes and their relevant signaling in the context of human stem cells, neurodevelopment, and oncogenesis. Prior to joining Resilience, my group leveraged discoveries from basic science research, established new platforms (e.g., gene-edited hESCs, patient-derived iPSCs, organoids) and cutting-edge methods to study neurodevelopmental abnormalities caused by a congenital disorder of deglycosylation, and explored new targets/strategies for overcoming challenges in cancer therapy.

    I was a faculty member and principle investigator in the Department of Dermatology and Cancer Center at MCW.Using combined approaches of systems, cancer and stem cell biology, my group worked on multiple research programs to study posttranslational mechanisms underlying the regulation of cellular pluripotency as well as investigate the physio-pathological development of human melanocytes and the dysregulation of signaling networks in melanoma cells. In addition, there was a long-standing interest and expertise in my laboratory to study how protein glycosylation contributes to the regulation of stem cell differentiation and the developmental abnormalities in pediatric patients.
