When pursuing my master's degree in statistics, I worked as a research assistant supervised by professor Chong He. My interest was in computationally-intensive algorithms in Bayesian statistics.- By caching candidate samples in a low-acceptance MCMC algorithm, I sped up the algorithm 30 times and developed it into the MethyBayes package.- Parallelized a large-scale Bayes factor computation in Fortran using both OpenMP and MPI; Tuned the algorithm for distributed computing and benchmarked it on two different kinds of high-performance computing clusters.

I worked on a statistical consulting team at East China Normal University for 2 years under the supervision of professor Xiaolong Pu. Among other responsibilities, I was the leader on a Statistical Process Control (SPC) project in collaboration with a tobacco company.- Developed a semi-parametric quality control model for controlling the tobacco dehumidification process. - Processed data and implemented model estimation utilizing parallel computing on Amazon Web Services.- Collaborated with a software vendor to implement an SPC software that enables the clients to detect abnormalities of the manufacturing process in advance so as to minimize the chance for defective products. - Developed R packages for data processing and modeling.
