ESD Global is dedicated to making Empowerment Self-Defense (ESD) training as accessible as CPR and swimming lessons through increasing public awareness of its profound benefits, engaging stakeholders to increase access to ESD training and training ESD trainers. Its founder, Yudit Sidikman, leads a dedicated group of ESD practitioners who envision a world where all people have the Empowerment Self-Defense skills to protect themselves and others. ESD Global will run its 2nd annual training camp in Huguenot NY in August 2018. We are developing an online community with resources for ESD practitioners, supporting partnerships to provide ESD training in communities and research.The worldview that lies at the core of this project is our recognition that local agents of change who are sensitive to the cultural sensitivities of their environments can forge the most effective pathways into the organic structure of their communities. This allows them to bring sustainable renewal and change to the community’s response to sexual, emotional, verbal, and financial violence against women.

Creating and innovating violence prevention tools through technology, education and community building.

Yehudit founded El HaLev in 2003, together with Jill Baker Shames, to address a growing interest among women in Israel to learn martial arts and self-defense. She has voluntarily run the organization as CEO since 2010, and has taught empowerment self-defense and Judo courses from the very beginning. Whether in the office or the training hall, Yudit is both a business leader and personal inspiration for the El HaLev community.She arrived in Israel in 1984, and not long after began a family. Throughout all of her projects and endeavors, she stayed devoted to her role as a mom, and now strives to make her non-profit a friendly environment to other working mothers. In fact, El HaLev employs over 60 educators who choose the level of employment that suits their personal needs as young mothers and/or second career employees., and 75% of the of the teaching staff are women, making it the largest employer of women martial artists world-wide.  Since it's founding, El HaLev has worked with over 50,000 participants. The organization focuses on violence prevention among women, girls, children, and people with special needs. Yehudit's first and foremost responsibility is education and advocacy which she puts to work through course instruction and international lectures on violence prevention.
