Roles in store include:- Dispensing single vision and progressive addition lenses- Three-way handover, frame selection, discussion of lens options, taking measurements, frame fitting, claiming private health insurance, and troubleshooting- Administrative tasks such as merchandising, booking appointments, arriving patients, answering phone calls, ordering contact lenses, casing frames and delegating tasks- Frame repair and adjustment- Teaching customers how to put on and take care of their contact lenses- Pre-testing (OCT, autorefractometer and keratometer, air-puff tonometer, vertometer, hearing screening) and visual fields testing- Cleaning frames, mirrors, desks, vacuuming, and sanitising machinesBeing in a fast-paced optical environment, I further developed my skill of creating greater connections with customers. This includes using customer’s names and paying attention to their mood and body language to tailor my communications, especially when de-escalating stressful situations. I also learnt how to manage customer expectations and maintain clear communication throughout all steps of their store journey to ensure that they enjoy their experience in-store. All of this will ultimately help create a deeper connection and quality relationships with the people that I serve.

Tasks include order picking, freight booking, packing orders, and updating inventory.

Tutored both primary and secondary school students in a broad range of subjects across all levels, from grade 2 Maths and English to VCE English, Mathematical Methods, Further Maths, Biology, and Physics. From this experience, I learnt how to explain concepts in a wide variety of levels, adopting different diagrammatic representations and taught my students according to their preferred learning styles, while challenging them to keep practicing and improve their techniques. It was highly rewarding when I obtained feedback from parents or the students themselves about how well they were doing in school, and the amazing grades and study scores they had obtained.
