In my current role as a Medical Interpreter Supervisor at the Interpreter Services Department in Harborview Medical Center, I am responsible for supervising a team of medical interpreters and supporting staff in the performance of duties associated with providing interpretation and translation for patients, medical providers and staff. I also manage translation projects for the hospital, provide education on working with interpreters to the hospital staff and medical provider, and manage bilingual staff assessments.

I am part of the AALB QA team working on curriculum design for the 60-hour basic medical interpreter training course, ongoing quality assurance for the training, as well as one of the course instructors. In May of 2020, I was part of group of instructors who developed the curriculum for and taught the inaugural basic medical interpreter training course for Americans Against Language Barriers (AALB). AALB has since gone on to train hundreds of medical interpreter students and has grown into a robust training outfit with an outstanding group of instructors.

As an interpreter trainer, I have developed and conducted a number of continuing education workshops for healthcare interpreters including Interpreting for Cancer Care, Interpreting for Social Work in Healthcare Settings, Note-Taking for Medical Interpreters, Interpreting Idioms and Cultural References, Virology for Medical Interpreters, Interpreting for Spiritual Care, and Interpreting for Survivors of Domestic Violence.
