Wrote the chapter of Neural Networks and Pattern Recognition for Chinese High School AI Textbook.

Used deep learning methods with convolutional and recurrent neural networks to solve the image captioning task.Designed neural networks for video captioning and participated in Microsoft’s 2016 Video to Language Challenge. Based on a SIND dataset from Microsoft, designed a cross-modal network with sequence embedding and global context pooling method for visual storytelling tasks.

Collected and processed chatting data from online and offline such as Reddit, Twitter, and movie scripts to analyze the impact of different features on user response behaviors.Designed a deep neural network with special attention mechanisms (different weights for different lengths) to predict those conversation-ending users and analyze their potential causes (the paper is published by WWW 2018). Conducted experiments on and designed new attention mechanisms using positional information for the long-distance dependency problem in LSTM. Used this positional attention mechanism to improve the performance of AI writing (especially poems).
