The car paint is a critical part, where any defect is easily noticed by the client and has to be repaired before final delivery. In this stage of the project, I worked directly with the team that developed the image processing and computer vision algorithms to identify these defects. The data acquisition process uses a proprietary imaging equipment that is installed on an industrial robotic arm. The acquisition process is automated, and the acquired images are processed in real time to identify defects, such as dirt, bubbles, scratches, orange peel.During this time, the team also developed the integration of software and industrial automation systems. The synchronization between robot control, image acquisition, image processing and report generation was critical for the system to operate in real time during production without delay. -
