Information is a powerful tool, and around the globe, governments, non-profits, corporations and individual citizens are harnessing data in new ways to make advances in every field, in every endeavor. The West Side Legal Project was founded to aggregate and distribute information about organizations that provide legal aid to those in San Antonio that are in need. Help is available but not necessarily known to the target population, and our mission is to leverage social media and other technologies to get the word out.Yuri graduated from St. Mary's School of Law, and developed a deep appreciation for the Marist mission of providing aid and guidance to those in need. After working in St. Mary's Legal and Social Justice Clinic, Yuri was surprised to find that while the safety net for those with low incomes is not what it should be, help is available. However, many of these organizations are unknown to the very population they serve, and that disconnect was the impetus for Yuri to start the West Side Legal Project.
