Drawing on my love for Washington State's San Juan Islands and passion for building and growing new businesses, I envisioned and launched a transportation company in the remote Pacific Northwest islands, securing funding without equity dilution.Since day one, I conceptualized and implemented a forward-thinking digital, contactless business model that inadvertently prepared the company for COVID and led us to experience 800% growth during and after the lockdowns. We built in-house all booking and tracking software and legal infrastructure, allowing us the agility to execute fast decisions, seasonal adjustments, and island-specific tasks. All of the above resulted in superior customer experience and significant expansion of fleet and location (40 vehicles on three islands), transitioning the startup into a regional market leader.Exactly five years after the business's inception, we exited through an acquisition, selling the company to new ambitious West Coast leaders.
