I am a dedicated Junior at Aragon High School with a deep interest in pursuing a career in the fast-growing biotechnology field. I am very interested in deepening my understanding of laboratory techniques and protocols through hands-on experience in a laboratory setting.At school, my coursework in Biotechnology and AP Biology helped me develop valuable technical skills, including laboratory safety, analyzing allergens and antibodies, running electrophoresis gels, and performing spectrophotometry analysis. Currently, I am enrolled in a second-year dual-enrollment course in biotechnology to deepen my understanding of technical concepts and learn new procedures in the lab. Outside of school, I enjoy competing in mathematical tournaments, which helped me develop problem-solving skills and sharpen my critical thinking. In the past, I have represented my school at the Berkley Math Tournament (BMT) and the Sandford Math Tournament (SMT) as well as competed individually at the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) and qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME). All of these individual and team experiences helped me explore new ideas and approach challenging problems in unique ways that are not typically taught at school. Many problems require participants to employ different perspectives and combine different ideas to reach an answer. I learned to critically assess each problem, helping me develop a creative and solution-oriented mindset.I am very passionate about exploring new concepts; therefore, I deeply value an open mindset and believe that it is never too early or too late to learn new ideas or expand on existing knowledge.
