Using microarray analysis of tissues microdissected from malaria mosquito embryos discovered molecular pathway for regulation of drought tolerance in malaria mosquitoes. (ref. 1) and (in press). Using RNA-FISH discovered and analyzed variabilities in transcriptional patterning networks in insects (ref. 2). Was one of the first in the world to use whole genome tiling microarrays for analysis of non-coding and reverse transcription in Drosophila genome. Using chromatin immunoprecipitation isolated RNA involved in regulation fo chromatin function. In collaboration with Affymetrix, Inc. took part in designed whole genome tiling microarray for Anopheles gambiae – malaria mosquito.Performed multiple studies on identification and analysis of transcription factor binding sites in enhancers of Drosophila patterning genes

Worked as part of a team of scientists that used yeast two hybrid screening coupled to human cDNA library screening to discover caspase-8 – central effector of programmed cell death pathways induced by variety of immune receptors (ref. 6) and Patent 1. Using yeast two hybrid screening coupled to in silico analysis of public DNA databases discovered cFLIP/CASH a caspase-like inhibitor of cell death, central oncogene involved in colorectal cancer and other malignant conditions (ref.5) and Patent 2. Analysed both genes using tissue culture and transgenic models.Using immunoprecipitations coupled to 2D-gel electrophoresis and nano-electrospray mass-spectroscopy analyzed the components of signaling complexes bound to cFLIP in cancer cell lines.Developed an innovative approach for isolation of genes involved in regulation of programmed cell death.
