Designing and developing the next customer experience for the retail, F&B and other industries.

While mostly responsible for scouting of new technologies and delivering new business systems for the Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia Office and Residential businesses; I was also responsible for IT budgeting, expenditure, governance, as well as team grooming. The spare time was also used to help the counterpart from Retail, Serviced Residence and Data & Insight team as when needed.Several key achievements are mostly around Smart Building projects, not just as a one-off implementation, but designed with future integration and scalability in mind breaking the boundaries of Mechanical & Engeering and Software:1. Architected an AI platform on the cloud, monitoring building energy performance and running CCTV video analytics, across several CapitaLand's office buildings in Singapore, to detect anomalies in energy utilisation and improving security on the ground. The AI platform has been designed with scalability in mind, to also be able to capture future IoT readings into the AI platform, as well as scaling to the other regions.2. Designed roadmap for Smart Aircon product, for use in integrated workplace personalisation scenarios, especially with integration to the AI platform above to provide automated feedback loop.3. Architected group level Facial Recognition system to be used for building security access.Several other key achievements that unfortunately the details can't be disclosed yet at this stage:1. Helped the Office business reshaping the Digital Blueprint as well as delivering few key projects to support new business offerings.2. Helped drive establishment of offshore development center.3. Helped spearhead the Cloud and DevOps practice internally.

Primary responsibility was to help build software engineering team capability in Singapore, across multiple areas: solution development, mobile apps, cloud, integration, application lifecycle management, digital marketing and technical refresh.Helped a client to restructure all their customer data points from 14 different systems, into a single consistent customer point of view, with 500+ attributes about the customers. The data was used to support audience segmentation, ads targeting and content recommendations capability across various client digital properties.On the side, helped with various presales and project delivery activities, to bring the right solutions to solve various client challenges across multiple disciplines: digital customer, digital marketing, web single sign-on, integration, analytics, etc.

Architected and delivered a few typical enterprise applications, integrating many other enterprise applications, hundreds man-days, many team members and all. 1. BizTalk ESB for resource industry, where partner companies bid for pricing. If the bid didn't get through in time, they could lose the opportunity or money. Lots of money.2. OAuth authentication and Web Single Sign On, allowing 1 single login on 60 different websites. Think Facebook Login. Something along that line.3. Technical refresh of 17 years old application. Probably the best project, considering the previous vendor has closed down and the client didn't have source code, including for a security module that till date, no one know how it works. And we made it work in the new platform, without knowing how it actually works. Weird, huh.

Imagine had to build integration to 22 different applications, across 40 servers, where not all application interfaces were on web services yet, including with external partners. With only 5 people in the team.Then imagine your user's expression seeing the data they keyed in in the main application appears almost instantaneously in the Finance and CRM systems. Magic...

This was when I developed the medical claims and medical drug dictionary application. The greatest achievement was on the high availability design for the 24x7 medical record system, where at one time, the system was up 24x7 for 6 months, even during the scheduled downtime. If it wasn't due to the major application release, it would have probably live longer.

Responsible for client-server based Interfacing Systems between Hospital Systems and Pharmacy Systems, successfully improving the performance throughput of up to 5x. It was all socket programming. TCP/IP level.

Tried teaching. It was good school, good students, good experience, and 1 memorable term, but felt like something was missing.

Young and green, saw opportunity in building enterprise POS system for small and medium retails, but the market was still happy with FoxPro and DBase 3.

I was in C++ camp before I joined this company, and it just changed my whole perspective on Microsoft Technologies. Contributed to enterprise web portal, three tiered, DCOM project on various stack of Microsoft Technologies: BizTalk Server, Active Directory, IIS, SQL Server, Windows Server. That was year 2001 when googling wasn't a tradition yet. Learnt a lot from good mentors here.
