I am a scientist in the field of haptics; my research focuses on human tactile perception, skin-contact dynamics, and haptic interfaces. I aim to create natural, compelling, and customizable haptic interactions in virtual and augmented environments. My research have been published in international journals (e.g., IEEE Transaction on Mechatronics, IEEE Transactions on Haptics, Journal of Royal Society Interface, PLOS ONE) and conferences (e.g., Eurohaptics, IEEE World Haptics). I earned my Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at Koc University in Turkey in 2018 and did postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart, Germany. Since September 2020, I work as an Assistant Professor at the Delft University of Technology, where I direct the Haptic Interface Technology Lab (HITLab). At TU Delft, I have the opportunity to work with enthusiastic students and employees. I am the lead lecturer for the Applied Experimental Methods course. I also contribute HRI and Control of HRI courses as a guest lecturer and Vision and Reflection course as a fellow lecturer. My research has been generously funded by the NWO OTP grant (2023-2028), NWO XS grant (2023-2024), NWO Veni grant (2022-2025), TU Delft Cohesion Grant (2021-2022), Delft Technology Fellowship (2020-2023), and Huawei Technologies (2022-2025). I am the recipient of the 2018 Eurohaptics Best Ph.D. Thesis Award, IEEE WHC 2017 Best Poster Presentation Award, and TUBITAK Ph.D. Fellowship 2013; I was selected for 2019 Sign Up! Career-building Program. I am currently the chair of the Technical Committee on Haptics.
