Yvesner Zamar is a Director at The Williams Group. He received his undergraduate education from The Florida State University. He conducted his legal studies at the David A. Clarke School of Law-University of the District of Columbia. During law school, he worked with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of the Nation’s Capital Area, the Federal Health and Families Team at AARP, and for Congressman Alcee L. Hastings. He also served two years on NBLSA’s National Board as National Historian and National Attorney General. He was a part NBLSA’s international efforts as a part of delegations to Haiti and Canada. He previously served as a Legislative Counsel to Congressman John Conyers, Jr., the Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee and Co-Founder of the Congressional Black Caucus, where he managed key Pollinator Protection and Maternal Mortality Legislation. Additionally, he coordinated the Congressman’s annual braintrust which encompassed policing, racial justice, international affairs, and voting rights. As the Senior Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Deb Haaland, one of the first Native American women ever elected to Congress, he staffed her on the House Armed Services Committee and the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
