As the Director of Nursing at Palm Partners Detox and residential I was responsible in coordinating the care with a population of 165 clients and 42 nurses, which includes LPN/RN. The DON: Develops, maintains, and implements nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation. The following also pertains to current position:• Participating in all admission decisions in collaboration with the clinical and detox director. Participates in daily and weekly management team meetings to discuss client status, census changes, personnel, and the client’s complaints or concerns. • Supervises the nurse manager to ensure nursing and staffing patterns, quality of care is being rendered to all clients. • Oversees a total of 42 registered nurses and LPN’s in a detox and residential unit.• Evaluates the work performance of all nursing personnel, assists in the determination of salary increases, and implements discipline according to operational policies. • Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage on unit. • Delegates’ responsibility to the nurse manager, who implements the written policies and procedures. • Demonstrate knowledge of the key functioning of the department and collaborate with the Quality Improvement department to maintain compliance with Joint Commission requirements. • Collaborates daily with the medical director to ensure patient safety, continuity of care and departmental changes.• Responsible for the overall functioning of the medical and residential department.• Other management duties and responsibilities apply and can be discussed.• Other commitments will be discussed as needed.
