Youth Employment Pathways Project Coordinator

The Youth Employment Pathways Project is a scale up of NDYEP project and its demand-driven skills development model into other States of Nigeria’s Niger Delta with grant funding of USD$5,500,000. Role spans across; Build/strengthen the ecosystem of public, private and social sector actors, identify and build linkages with organizations to conduct technical and vocational skills training while exploring opportunities for internships, jobs or business in the supply chain of organizations or value chain of any of the focus sectors.  Program management and administration – developing workplans and budgets, identifying, onboarding and managing sub-grantees, monitoring and evaluation of project activities, data collection, progress reporting. Engage private sector companies, Chambers of Commerce and other private sector stakeholders via targeted meetings and dissemination events to share and dialogue about action research findings, implementation of outcomes and lesson.  Engage government stakeholders to create awareness on the NDYEP model and approaches, and to obtain States commitment to adopt/adapt more demand led youth employment programming.  Contribute to research design, supervision and review of research outputs coordination including coordinating planned identification and mapping of private sector companies as potential employers of program participants

The Niger Delta Youth Employment Pathways (NDYEP) Project has a goal to map the ecosystem of skills development, analyze opportunities for employment creation and develop models of youth job readiness or workforce development that provide marginalized young men and women in the Niger Delta the opportunity to secure sustainable jobs through quality training that prepares them with market relevant skills. Contributed to the success of a pilot Ford Foundation grant of US$2,000,000 that strengthened the youth employment ecosystem of public and private actors in the Niger Delta. Supervised training implementation of about 4500 NDYEP participants, awarded and processed about 50,000,000 naira sub-grants to 86 participants for their start-up businesses.  Sealed internship, job and business opportunities with RIVTAF Golf Estate and other organizations for project participants in agriculture, ICT and renewable energy, building construction, and finished leather. Coordinated stakeholder engagements and achieved three MoUs with key employment ecosystem private and public stakeholders for the adoption of the NDYEP model into their youth development programming. Contributed to research design, supervision and review of research outputs coordination as well as monitoring and evaluation of project activities.

NDLink launched in 2013 is a project under PIND's Analysis and Advocacy Program and an online information and communications platform for development actors working in the Niger Delta. Engaged stakeholders to gather, analyze and publish project data on the website to foster publicity and collaboration as well as reduce duplication of project efforts in the Niger Delta. Developed quarterly communications strategies and actions that led to sourcing and publishing of development news, resources and job openings on the website while managing all social media accounts. Engaged development actors, practitioners, government and private stakeholders and NDLink community members in Niger Delta via interviews, forum discussions and debate platforms. Assisted in other PIND Analysis and Advocacy activities. Conceptualized and drafted a high-level Roundtable on State led action for relevant SDGs stakeholders as well as PIND’s 2018 Niger Delta Development Forum in the Niger Delta.
