As head of the video desk at The Malaysian Insight, I led a team of nine staff (producers, cameramen, and video editors) in producing feature stories and breaking news, as well as hosting two highly successful podcast shows - 'The People v. Najib Razak' and 'The Najib Razak 1MDB trial' - the only podcasts in the country covering the trial of a former Malaysian prime minister on criminal charges. In my role, I hired and appraised personnel, set the editorial direction for our content, and delegated assignments. I also wrote and checked scripts, and often produced content myself, such as the popular 'Menteri in my Myvi' series, in which I interviewed Malaysian Cabinet ministers in a Myvi (the most commonly used car in the country). With my strong leadership skills and expertise in producing engaging content, I was able to successfully guide my team to produce top-quality work.

I covered general and business news in Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei, producing daily news and feature packages for NHK Tokyo and NHK World. My work included producing special features on high-profile events such as the murder of Kim Jong-Nam and the Trump-Kim Summit in Singapore.

As a News Assistant at CNBC Asia Pacific, my responsibilities included building audio-visual elements for daily live shows, such as lower-thirds, sound-bites, videos, and scripts. I also put together taped interviews and themed packages for playout on live shows and CNBC.com using Stratus and Edius software.In my role as a Field Producer, I produced on-location, on-cam hits for CNBC Asia daily shows using LiveU and coordinated with the studio for live output. I also managed live on-location interviews with booked guests.As an Assistant Producer for live shows, I prepared elements like lower-thirds, stock boards, and info text slates, and called them out on air during the live broadcast. I also wrote scripts for anchors to read on air.

Singapore

While working as a journalist at MediaCorp's local daily, TODAY, I covered news in Singapore and cross-border issues between Singapore and Johor, as well as court proceedings at the State Court and Supreme Court. One of the notable stories I wrote for TODAY was a "Big Read" feature on the increase in Singaporean interest in real estate in Johor, driven by the presence of Chinese developers in the southern Malaysian state. The Asia News Network (ANN) is a coalition of 22 leading news organizations from South, Southeast and Northeast Asia, including China Daily (China), The Star (Malaysia), Straits Times (Singapore), Korea Herald (South Korea), Philippine Daily Inquirer (The Philippines), The Jakarta Post (Indonesia), and The Yomiuri Shimbun (Japan). As part of the ANN team, my responsibilities included:- Website development and maintenance: selecting stories from member papers and ensuring they are uploaded and updated on the website.- Weekly digital magazine (AsiaNews) publication: pitching and editing stories for the magazine.- News and photo service: selecting and editing stories according to format.- Reportage: going on special assignments for the network.- Coordination: facilitating the daily exchange of stories and photos among member papers and providing assistance to their requests.- Writing articles as a freelance columnist for The Nation (Bangkok) and The Star (Malaysia).

As a journalist at The Star, Malaysia's leading English daily, I covered major events in the country such as the 13th Malaysia General Election (2013), the Lahad Datu insurgency (2013), and the acquittal of Anwar Ibrahim on his second sodomy charges (2012). I also hosted shows for The Star TV during the 13th General Election.
