Chai Yee-Wei is a Singaporean filmmaker who has written/co-written and directed 4 feature length films -Blood Ties《還魂》, Twisted《撞⿁》That Girl In Pinafore《我的朋友,我的同學,我愛 過的⼀一切》and The Voice of China - I Want You 《中国好声⾳音之为你转⾝身》. He also found and started Mocha Chai Laboratories (MCL), which is Singapore’s first Dolby Vision and Atmos certified lab. Yee-wei was listed number 4 amongst 20 in Straits Times Power List 2013.In June 2018, he won the Grand Prix (George Lucas Award) at the Academy Award accredited Tokyo Short Shorts International Film Festival.One of Singapore's most prolific film directors, Chai Yee-Wei belongs to a new wave of award- winning directors, set to shape the future of local cinema. (Business Times, August 2, 2013) Mostly known for his horror films (which he wrote, directed and co-produced) Blood Ties 還魂 (2009) and Twisted 撞⿁鬼 (2011), 2013 has been a bumper year for him. His most recent music-movie, That Girl in Pinafore 我的朋友,我的同學,我愛過的⼀一切(2013), was lauded at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). It caught the attention of the producers of the highly acclaimed Chinese reality talent show, The Voice of China, who immediately sought after him to direct their own brand of music-movie, starring contestants from the first and second seasons. The movie I WANT YOU 中國好聲⾳音之為你轉⾝身 was released in mainland China in Dec 2013.In his passion for all things tech and digital media related to film, Chai also started a digital film lab Mocha Chai Laboratories (MCL) in 2012. Currently, MCL is the go to digital film lab in Singapore specialising in Digital Cinema services like mastering, encryption/decryption, KDM handling, duplication, censoring, versioning, subtitling, translation services, online colour grading, conversions and more. MCL is also the first and only Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision certified lab in Singapore.
