Dr. Yang is a leading scientist and an entrepreneur in the field of electrochemical energy storage and conversion, particularly in batteries and fuel cells. Aspired to bring lab-innovations into market, he has founded or co-founded several startups and led the companies in commercializing newly developed batteries. His efforts have made great strides in advancing novel battery technologies into products for electrical grid, transportation and consumer electronics applications. Previously, Dr. Yang was a Lab Fellow at the US-DOE’ Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and led wide efforts in developing and demonstrating varied battery technologies including a new generation vanadium redox flow battery commercialized at UET, novel Li-ion and Na-salt chemistries. Earlier he was a leading scientist in solid oxide fuel cells and hydrogen storage. Dr. Yang has garnered several national and international awards, including the 2017 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenging Award. He was elected into Washington Academy of Science in 2018 and as Fellow of ASM International in 2009, acknowledging his outstanding contribution in electrochemical energy conversion, storage and advanced materials. He has published over 200 research articles, ranked among the top 1% most highly cited, and authored over 100 US and foreign patents.
