This is one of the reasons I wanted to become a Social Worker. Everyone is in his or her own way searching to live a meaningful and (to his own definition) successful life. When I get to be part of that process, I too experience what matters to me most. Although from the other side of the spectrum.The process a client goes through is constantly subjected to change and contains many unique experiences. To my opinion a treatment therefore, should also be able to move along with that process. An open mind, solution-oriented and positive attitude towards the client is an absolute priority.I am not afraid to take the road less travelled, within the ethics of my line of work, if that is what it takes to get through to the core of the matter. I accompany the client in gaining self-insight by walking with them on their journey. They know, from within, what drives them. My job is to guide them where necessary and offer support.In my own search of self I have traveled a lot, had experience in different work-fields, bared/conquered my own challenges and rediscovered my greatest passion (next to supporting people): Being a Singer-Songwriter. I believe you lead by example and so I had to practice the philosophy I preach. Giving myself to music has been very challenging. It was one of my greatest fears and yet also one of my greatest desires. As of today I can finally and proudly say that, I am also a musician. This creativity is something I very much want to develop in combination with my role as a Social Worker.
