Due to the small size of the company, this was a comprehensive role with a large remit. I handled customer queries, quotes and shipping issues. As well as developing, using my self-taught skill with macros and accounts software, I wrote software to convert file format, catalogue uploads,automating customer update emails and even handling sales a KPI tracking software. This culminated in me becoming a valuable member of the Strem Chemicals UK team, unfortunately due to my move, I was unable to continue working for them full time but continue to do piece work.

I focused on customer service, sales and store standards, although I often took on some more administrative and merchandising roles, due to my experience with management of larger stores.

As the senior supervisor, I was fulfilling the role of assistant manager until my quick promotion upon proving my ability to handle the role. I was responsible for the day to day running of the store alongside the Manager. My role included, but was not limited to – Opening and closing the store; handling, counting and banking daily cash; daily delivery and weekly paper work; managing, motivating and training a team of twelve staff while pushing myself and my team to exceed sales targets, deliver excellent customer service and keep store standards high. I left to pursue my dream of hiking the Appalachian trail.

As a production operative, it was my roll to make a variety of products using and maintaining large industrial heat presses.

This was alongside college. As a sales team we worked to make sure that each customer was sold the correct gear for the environment they were travelling to. I was also involved in stock check, handling deliveries and re-pricing. I was responsible for the supervision and training of new employees. There were regular sales and customer feedback-based reward schemes to push the sales staff, which we regularly surpassed both as a team and as individuals.
