I worked on using green solvents, specifically ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents (DES), to dissolve cellulose for biomedical packaging applications. By employing techniques such as electrospinning, 3D printing, and solvent casting, the study aimed to produce cellulose-based materials like fibers and films. The findings demonstrate that dry cellulose dissolves effectively in ionic liquids, whereas wet cellulose dissolves in certain DES formulations. The research experience focused on the potential of these green solvents in creating sustainable biomedical materials, emphasizing their environmental and health benefits.
