a band run independant record company with a handfull of small but interesting releases. the principle of the company is to promote recordings of live played music of any sort. this is partly intended as an alternative to the trend in overproduction of music. we try to preserve the aura of a performance rather than treating it as raw material from which to shape a product. obviously production and digital manipulation are also potentially creative and useful. the lo-fi movement is like conceptual art in as far as the predominance of painting within art became a tyranny that imposed its own law. the manipulated music image as product has recently predominated and threatened to redefine music as something entirely technology based as opposed to something spiritual and a site for human relation. realrecordings waves the flag for the soul of music; the personal, actual moments in time shared by musicians and audiences not just the simulated moment shared by the consumer and memory stick.
