I most recently played professional baseball in the Atlantic League, a premiere independent baseball league, which is designated as an MLB partner league. The Atlantic League is comprised of players that have been released from Major League affiliates, are fresh out of college, and international players. Many players are still aspiring to reach their goal of getting signed by an MLB organization.Since I was a kid, team sports or being a part of a team in general, has been something special to me. The team concept is one aspect that inspired my dream of playing professional baseball. The success that comes with everyone doing their part, building relationships on and off the court/field, and together finding a way to strive toward the same end goal is what makes the team experience unique. However, with these unique moments come adversity and the challenges to navigate difficult hurdles as a unit. No matter how big or small the adversity, management and leadership within the organization is a true sign of future successes or failures, each of which find a way to shape who we are as a person and a collective “team.” It just depends on how we approach these learning opportunities. I learned early in life that I thrived in this environment, accepting challenges, working hard, and wanting to find a way as a player to help each member feel they are an important contributing factor.I was fortunate enough to get drafted in the MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. I achieved my dream, but quickly pivoted to embrace my new journey which was trying to make it to the MLB. Having been selected in the 28th round, as a fourth year senior, I knew my path was going to be different than early rounders. This was in the back of my head, but at the same time I was willing to put my work ethic, dedication, and ability up against anyone. I was and am always willing to bet on myself. With this mindset and a healthy dose of successes and failures, I was able to reach AAA level in the year 2021.Through all of my sports experiences in life, as well as role models I have been fortunate to have, I look forward to transferring all I have learned, traits I have acquired, and apply them to life after baseball. Whatever path that may be!Volunteerism:In 2020 baseball was shut down in the minor leagues for the entire year due to Covid. During this time a couple college teammates/friends of mine and I coached 11u and 13u travel baseball teams.
