Currently working at Tait Communication implementing and maintaining radio testing systems, which manage communication between handheld radios and receiver systems. My job involves managing the server infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines behind a nightly test system. Which makes use of simulated radios to assess different radio behaviour to prevent issues arising in production. My work involves working alongside manual testers and developers to get the new features assessed and ready for the next cadence release. During my first year in this role, I rolled out major package upgrades as we were originally running with legacy code, I have since updated all our packages and improved their runtime through reworking the threaded environments to be more efficient. Also implementing good unit testing and code linting standards to the packages.Many improvements have been made to our CI/CD system, e.g. implementing pre-built environments through Docker, improving package build and deployment times and implementing multi-threading/asynchronous coding practices to allow for concurrent jobs to be run.

During the summer holidays I linked up with Seequent for an internship where I worked in a team of six people solving Jira tickets where we were building, testing and deploying bugfixes or larger projects. One of the main projects I worked on was the File API which takes HTTP requests and creates upload/download links for an engine to use and interact with Azure blob storage. During my time at Seequent I got to experience quite a range of different styles of coding and worked on various areas of development. I worked in both TypeScript and Python as a full stack developer.

On my break I was contracted to St John to un-assign and un-enrol a large supply of Samsung tablets from the St John management network. In the job I worked largely in security management software and inventory registries to remove old unused devices off the network then securely wiping the devices for use elsewhere.

During my time in the Buller District Council, I worked closely with all staff within the council providing technical assistant and support, creating a good rapport, and becoming the go-to for any IT related issues. Due to the council supporting departments all over the west coast region, I provided IT support for the library, theatre, airport, and the Reefton Service Centre. Whilst most of my job was customer facing, I had a few projects that kept me going in terms of network architecture which involved investigating and deploying new systems. As experience from this job, I learnt about the underlying services and infrastructure that was hosted behind the scenes from the Active Directory Services to backup services and networking systems.I have worked with the following core systems: • ArcGIS – the councils mapping system• Cisco Unified Comms – central phone system• Veam – daily backups• Sophos – device security and management controls• MagiQ system – rating and accounting system• Imaging and deploying the computers and mobile devices

Throughout my university study, I worked at Infusion Software during my breaks where my job was creating and upgrading old Jasper reports for an accounting system, importing test data from CSV files into a PostgreSQL database system and creating data schema structures for the reports.

During my university studies I worked alongside a Senior Network Engineer where we dealt with maintaining and upgrading major IT network infrastructure for relatively large companies and schools (e.g., Aranui High School, Temuka Transport, Doug Hood, Greymouth High School, etc.). In this position I learnt a large amount on how core Microsoft Server Infrastructure meshes on domain networks. This involved Exchange databases, Active Directory Services, file share servers, Hyper-V instances, DISM imaging systems, custom logon scripts, and networking infrastructure. During my experience there I was able to take part in upgrading Active Directory Services where we migrated 2010 Exchange/ADS servers to the latest 2019 Exchange/ADS servers which required several components to be upgraded alongside whilst also dealing with live and critical networking ecosystems. This job required a large amount of customer focused work and extreme care when handling these critical services.

As a part time casual worker, I worked in a team and I dealt with a variety of customers on both the cashier and drive thru. At Macca’s I was proficient in all areas in the serving area and learnt a large amount of the kitchen area. Whilst working at McDonalds I learnt to deal with customers in a professional manner, dealing with complaints resolutions, station area management and mentoring some of the new crew on how to work their stations.
