About Zachari J. Curtis

Community accountable farmer and local food systems expert working in Washington, DC, Zachari contributes technical skill, grit and strategic genius towards the task of growing ideas that make a healthier food system. For nearly a decade, Zachari has been fomenting out-of-the-box thinking about the food system, resulting in a few noteworthy experiments. As farmer at the helm, Good Sense Farm & Apiary, a mushroom farm and snack food brand, Zachari gets folks excited about bringing wilderness back into the conversation about the future of how we eat. In it's highest sense, Good Sense Farm is a fledgling cooperative inspiring local residents to take notice of the whole ecosystem one bite at a time. Zachari cofounded Community Farming Alliance, a cooperative network of smallscale farmers in DC, to develop infrastructure and instigate resource sharing among farmers of color in the DC area. She also built a Sustainable Agriculture program at Bread for the City to instigate innovation that benefits those most in need. Next stop: developing a food hub for equitable distribution of the material, social and economic resources generated by a thriving just food system.
