As an undergraduate research assistant at the Prausnitz Lab at Georgia Tech, I investigate the use of a potential nonsurgical treatment of ocular hypertension and glaucoma. I plan and execute various imaging and testing methods to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the treatment. Additionally, I analyzed imaging, electroretinography, and immunostaining data using MATLAB, GraphPad Prism, and ImageJ to gain insights into the effectiveness of this approach.As a part of my research, I was awarded the Presidential Undergraduate Research Award (2024).

Conduct weekly lessons with students, mentor first-year BME and transfer students in their transition to college

As President of Georgia Tech BMES, I oversee all committee chairs within the organization and serve as a mentor to ensure the success of the BMES chapter. My primary responsibilities lie in communicating with BME faculty to manage chapter affairs, working with other BMES chapters at the national level, and coordinating new events on campus. This role has allowed me to create a variety new opportunities for learning and professional growth within the BME community at Georgia Tech.

As Vice President of the Georgia Tech Biomedical Engineering Society, I managed all financial operations and budget allocations, overseeing a budget of over $5,000 and developing an enhanced financial tracking platform to streamline purchase requests and approvals. I collaborated closely with the President and committee leaders to organize impactful events, including our MedTech Hackathon, recruiter sessions, and design workshops. Additionally, I liaised with BME faculty to ensure strong departmental representation, strengthening connections and resources for our members.

As President, I expanded my role to overseeing the Gold Scholar Ambassadors and serving as a direct liaison to our admin in the Office of Special Scholarships. I also restructured our leadership to include designated positions overseeing Service, Community, and Mentorship to strengthen our scholar community.

As an Ambassador for the Gold Scholarship Program, I represent the opinions and voices of over 70 scholars in the Gold Scholar community to the Office of Special Scholarships. In my role, I work to plan and execute opportunities for community building for Gold Scholars and alumni. Additionally, I advocate for scholarship program improvements financially, academically, and professionally. Individually, I spearheaded the new Mentorship Program designed to cultivate relationships between Gold Scholars across cohorts as well as with alumni.

As the Medical Affairs intern at Asensus Surgical, I am working to compose a comprehensive review of literature discussing Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Virtual and Augmented Reality as they pertain to surgical training. Specifically, my paper focuses on the implementation of new digital technologies in training new surgeons and residents on robot-assisted surgical platforms like the Senhance® system. In addition, I am collaborating with the Clinical Marketing and Data Analytics departments to analyze Asensus case data and identify trends that will support company growth in the future. Using Tableau and basic SQL code, I have been able to analyze surgical case data and create new visualizations for Asensus.

As Director of Recruitment for Medical Robotics, I streamlined the member acquisition process, reached out to potential new members, and coordinated events to boost engagement and promote membership. I also represented the club through tabling events and managed the creation and distribution of promotional materials. In this role, I increased membership by 106% within the first 90 days of the Fall 2022 semester.

As a member of Team Limbo, a sub-team of the Medical Robotics club, I collaborated with the mechanical team to refine the design of a 3D-printed prosthesis for trans-radial amputees with haptic feedback. Alongside a small group of students, I contributed to redesigning the wrist mechanism using a universal joint driven by two small servo motors. Throughout our ongoing design process, we worked to overcome the spatial constraints posed by both vestigial anatomy and the mechanical components required to drive the prosthesis's motion.

As the Lead IT Specialist at the Pulmonary, Allergy, and Sleep Center of Augusta, I restructured and refined the clinic’s computer network to reduce patient wait times. My responsibilities included updating Windows operating systems, integrating new computer systems, and troubleshooting internet and software issues. I ensured that the clinic's computer network was compatible with various programs, including Allscripts EMR and Sleepware G3 Sleep Diagnostics. Additionally, I created digital promotional materials for the clinic, developing the website and designing visual content for advertising.

As a Project Intern at PatCen, I co-authored two Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Grant proposals to the National Institute of Health (NIH) under a limited four-week timeframe. These proposals discuss a novel approach for apneic oxygenation and continuous suctioning of pharyngeal secretions during endotracheal intubations. Throughout the process, I collaborated with PatCen's Chief Medical Officer and gathered a wealth of research on the various predicate devices, their impact on patient outcomes, and clinical evidence associated with these procedures. Outside of my role in research for this project, I aided in the operations behind and distribution of the OneScope® video laryngoscope. These responsibilities included processing customer orders, packaging and distributing the device, shipping/fulfilling orders, and invoicing customers.

As the Lead Instructor of Higher-Level Mathematics, I supervised and managed the instruction of students to develop independent mathematics skills up through higher-level calculus. Beyond helping students at the instructional level, I also provided consultation to parents in navigating their child's path through middle school and high school. My consultation work included hosting one-on-one meetings with parents as well as delivering presentations to large audiences, during which I discussed the academic opportunities available to their children.

In addition to my role in instruction, I also directed the technological operations of the Kumon of Augusta Math and Reading Center. My position included troubleshooting IT problems related to the student database and instructional platform utilized in the center. Additionally, when faced with the complications of online instruction during COVID-19, I designed an online method and instructional framework to continue instruction during the pandemic through Zoom and online scheduling. This role also included advising customers on the use of the online platform and troubleshooting any technical issues associated with connecting to classes virtually.
