My first season with them I quickly became their go-to greens mower every morning at 6am. I learned a lot of new skills following the veterans in the work place and asking questions that help me better understand the responsibilities of maintaining a golf course.In my second season, I was promoted to assistance super-intendant. I was given many additional responsibilities that I mastered quickly to ensure a swift and smooth start to the golf season. These responsibilities included irrigation repair, scheduling, maintaining the pump systems, machine maintenance.

Working to repair home phone and home internet services for customers. I work with the dying and difficult copper network. I drive a bell van dispatched from my house. As many Canadians can imagine some of the frustration that occurs between customers and call centers, a lot of that heat falls on the technician who shows up the repair the issue, even though the technician has nothing to do with the call centers or the dispatching office. You have to be incredibly mindful and resilient to put up with it, push it to the side and produce quality customer service while doing your best to fix their issue and answer any questions that may come up. This job required an intense 4 week training process, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Everything from ladder and road crossing safety to electrical engineering. I loved this entire process because it was so far from anything I had ever done before and I was constantly learning new things. The training worked perfectly for me because on my first day on the load by myself I was solving issues easily with minimal direction from my managers. I soon found out that working in my area, there was a lack of cell phone service so even when I needed help, I did not have access to it and would have to troubleshoot myself until I worked it out. Some days I would spend my whole day at one property troubleshooting and fixing everything to the standards Bell carries and following all the processes Bell requires us technicians to do at each and every jobsite. You can never be fully comfortable as a technician on the copper network, everyday you will see issues you have never seen before, this was the wisdom imparted on us new hires by technicians with 30 years on us. A strong trait for problem solving was an absolute necessity for my success in this job.Sales were also a part of this job, earning commission on up-sales and new customers. Having the compassion to understand the customers needs and the knowledge to make it happen was rewarding.

Tutoring IB/AP students in statistics, theater, literature and geography. In charge of my own hour long lessons. I build the lesson plans, speak with the parents, create and mark homework.

The coordinator of the esport program at my university came to me with a unique opportunity to manage and organize the finances for the esports club. I had been a part of the club since the beginning in 2020, as a player. I enjoyed the intensity and thrill of competing for my school, however I also enjoyed the environment and community aspects of being in esports. After being asked to be the treasurer for the club I simply could not turn it down as I knew I wanted to keep the option of working in esports open. I even changed one of my electives to a Game Studies course where we dove into many aspects of the gaming industry. It was because of this that I took it upon myself to learn programming sciences and languages. The commitment is about 4-5 hours a week, 3 spent in meetings and the other hours are me reaching out to programs, other schools, etc. I love the importance of my role, and hope to keep getting more experience. The club leader offered me to be his understudy as he was graduating that year, however I did have to turn it down unfortunately as it was an unpaid internship and I had to keep my job with Bell to help pay for school and living fees. I really wish I could have taken this opportunity; however I still play an important role in the club and am still learning all about what it takes to run a small esports organization.

Open and closing duties. Restocking, organizing, shipment management. Fulfilled and processed online orders. This was the bread and butter of the job. But as an in-person retail sales associate there are many things you must be mindful of at all times in the background due to the environment your in. Always keeping a smile on your face and seeming always open to help regardless of how busy or caught up you are in other aspects of the job are large examples of these. After a couple months of working here part-time, already super comfortable with the standards, procedures and customer experience interactions, I felt under stimulated and thought I could help more with some of the larger roles, however my boss was trying to get the more full-time employees who have been working there longer than me involved and there simply were not enough tasks to go around for me to get more involved with the company. I had no issue with this, I performed my jobs day in and day out exceeding customer expectations and enjoyed it whilst pursuing my post-secondary education.

Dispatched from home in a company vehicle. Spraying an environmentally friendly garlic based chemical to control mosquito populations on customer properties. We also did tick control. There were many safety protocols to follow with this job, requiring a yearly refresher 3 hour exam to keep your license. After my first year, I quickly became my boss's 'go-to-guy' in the large area of Haliburton that I was working in. In charge of training all the new-hires, giving refresher courses to people who needed them, ride-alongs to ensure the job is being done properly. I would be the resprayer as well, meaning whenever a customer was not satisfied with their mosquito population after we had sprayed, I would go back and do the job properly, or explain to the customer that the mosquito population cannot simply be controlled due to specific reasons (too much stagnant water, damp and dark areas, etc). In which case I would explain to them what their next steps should be to have better mosquito control and for our product to work flawlessly as it does for so many of our other customers.Given my familiarity and comfortability with the labor aspect of this job, my boss entrusted me to do a large part of the marketing up in my region since he did not want to drive 2 and a half hours from Toronto to do it himself. Without decreasing my daily production average, I was able to secure thousands of dollars worth of sales every summer, of which I got 10% commission so there was personal incentive as well. When I joined the company they had a few hundred thousand dollars of profit that year, now I believe they are pulling in millions of dollars in gross profit.

Delivering alcohol to LCBO's across Ontario, driving sometimes for 14 hours a day between Toronto, Haliburton and Montreal. This was the job I was hired to do, however I was not finding my mind stimulated enough and wanted more responsibility. Sampling our new alcohols, establishing a market for them to not waste money on where we market, and meetings at LCBO headquarters discussing supply and demand became part of my roles after discussing my involvement in the company with the CEO and my boss.The delivery aspect of this job relied heavily on my time management ability, I had a strict schedule sometimes delivering up to 20 different LCBO locations across Ontario including some home deliveries, each with a tight block of time I was allowed to show up between for the deliveries. I kept a 100% customer satisfaction rate through the whole time I was here.I just picked this job up to make extra money while pursuing my post-secondary studies.

Field service technician and sales technician. Working on making my own sales for our small team of 3. Quoting and scheduling everyone fairly, with quality assurance in mind. This experience taught me a lot about what it takes to be a salesperson. All the necessary grit, perseverance and tenacity demanded from your personality to succeed in sales. After establishing a number of returning customers, I sought to the ever growing era of digital marketing. Trying to start incentives for my existing customers getting their friends and family to sign up with us is an example of one of the successful ways I started securing more customers without having to cold call and go door-to-door.

Divemaster for the dive school in Koh Tao, Thailand. Worked directly with confident and new scuba divers. Taking them on trips and tours under the sea, keeping everyone's safety in my hand. I endured a 2 month long Divemaster in Training program to achieve the role of a PADI Divemaster which would let me work at dive schools running my own group of 4-5 tours, twice a day.
