Designed and conducted tests on the misting properties of some formulated antimicrobial compositions, employing both commercial and in-house air sampling techniques for data collection and analysis.

Worked with Professor Thomas D. Varberg to analyze the electronic spectra of niobium hydride and tantalum hydride through laser excitation and dispersed fluorescence spectroscopy. We recorded high-resolution spectra with a ring laser in order to examine the metal hyperfine structure, which provided insights into the nature of these largely unstudied chemical bonds. Our work from this summer was published in the Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy.

Worked with Professor Keith Kuwata to calculate and analyze the energetics of each of the steps of isoprene ozonolysis, including the formation and decomposition of the primary ozonide, the conformational interconversions following the addition of isoprene, and the reactivity of the resulting vinyl hydroperoxides. I then presented this work at the Midwest Undergraduate Computational Chemistry Consortium.
