During my fall 2016 semester at Clemson, I managed the Humanitarian Engineering Research and Design Studio (HERDS), which is CEDC's maker space. My job was to prepare HERDS for use by CEDC's project development teams and potentially other engineering organizations at Clemson.In my time as a HERDS Intern, I was able to help turn an old warehouse used for storing cardboard and surplus supplies into a a usable work space for CEDC's project development teams. As you can see in the attached "Before" images, the HERDS facility was far from useful before we began renovation. Throughout the semester we significantly improved the facility to the point where the space was being used by several CEDC project development teams and also to the level where we were able to give tours of HERDS to our funding partners.A lot of the work done for this internship was physical labor in order to make the work space presentable, however a majority of the internship was spent collaborating with people outside of the HERDS internship team. For example, I worked with the Clemson University Office of Research Safety to become certified in Biohazard Safety Management. I also coordinated with other students from CEDC's project development teams to make sure that HERDS had the resources necessary to suit their needs so that their projects could be successful.

Worked part-time over the summer as a food runner at the Old Mill Brewpub.
