As a Mechanic A, my core responsibilities include the operations, maintenance, construction and repair of substation equipment; including transformers, circuit breakers, and AC/DC control systems. Must also be highly proficient in reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and elementary drawings. Also needed to possess the ability to use high voltage equipment such as a megger or hi-pot in order to test our equipment to make sure it is up to specifications. I needed to be qualified to be able to take out electrical work permits through the District Operator in the Energy Control Center to safely perform work
