Camp Counselor / Volleyball Coach
CurrentThere is no better workplace or environment more effective at teaching its employees the most valuable life skills than summer camp.Camp Counselor Responsibilities:- Provided care for a group of children in a residential sleepaway setting, 24-7 care and attention todevelopment- Contributed to a team effort to create an environment that nourishes the social, emotional, and physical well being of all members- Intervened in patterns of toxic masculinity, racism, sexism- In tandem with co-counselors managed the social dynamic of a group of children in order to maximize pro-social behaviors such as resilience, inclusion, tolerance, cooperation and how to connect while competing in a healthy way- In tandem with co-counselors designed and implemented activities intended to respond to the social dynamic of a specific group of children- Contributed to the development of strategies aimed at addressing issues such as self-esteemissues, fear of the unknown, fixed-mindsets (vs growth mindsets), homesickness, interpersonal conflict, relational aggression, and bullying- Coached children in skills such as independence, relationship building, impulse control, and conflict resolutionVolleyball Coach Responsibilities:- Planning and executing both personal and group instruction and activities to stimulate excitement and personal growth on the volleyball court- Fostering a culture of trying new things and learning new skills all while building the skill level and skill diversity of campers on the volleyball court- Planning and executing month-long curriculum through lesson plans, all with growth, challenge, and the building of confidence at volleyball's programmatic core-Managing tryouts in order to build a team that would travel and compete in intercamp tournaments
