About Zachary Harper
Welcome to my page! I’m Zach, and I thrive on working with teams to solve complex problems and provide lasting solutions. My passion for working with people began in college, where I studied human resource management and served as the student body president, applying my HR education to lead advocacy teams and drive positive change for the student experience. After college, I continued my career in HR at a senior living community, where I enjoyed daily interactions with employees and residents. As the front-facing HR representative, supporting my team and residents energized me each morning. I became a subject-matter expert in our systems, supporting the senior leadership team with company-wide system implementations, such as a new timekeeping and scheduling system. As a two-person HR team, I established foundational knowledge in recruitment, onboarding, training, benefits, and employee relations. After earning my master’s degree, I transitioned to a recruitment and retention specialist role at WSU Tri-Cities to focus my HR career. My passion for welcoming new employees led me to this role, where I developed training guides and streamlined recruitment and hiring processes. After a few months, this role expanded into broader responsibilities including government relations, strategic planning, and project management. Currently, I support our Chancellor as Chief of Staff, tackling new challenges daily that require leading cross-unit teams to identify inefficiencies and building out solutions that work across the campus.Outside of work, you can find me cheering for my brother's baseball team (Go Mounties!) and exploring Washington’s beautiful hiking trails. Let’s connect!
