Whip Pediatric Cancer (WPC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that raises money for pediatric cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City. WPC provides smiles for children fighting cancer every day. This organization was founded by my amazing sister, Jordan Belous. WPC coordinates weekly hospital visits to children, where toys are delivered and time is spent with the kids that are being treated for cancer. The kids love being silly and forgetting their daily lives in the hospital. Seeing what these innocent kids are going through pushes me to do more to make a difference in their lives. WPC organizes two annual programs, "Heart of Gold" and "Skate for Gold."WPC gets schools around the nation to "Go Gold" in September for pediatric cancer awareness month. The kids decorate gold paper hearts and display them around their school to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research. Over the past four years, WPC has sent out 500,000 hearts and raised over $375,000. Skate for Gold is WPC's annual skating event in which pediatric cancer families can attend a fun-filled day of skating and other activities for free. A key component of the event is making sure the kids have fun skating while avoiding any injuries. My role at the event is to recruit hockey players to volunteer and make sure the kids have a great day skating. Each year it turns out to be an amazing event.Unfortunately, since the Pandemic, The weekly and annual events WPC has usually done have slowed down. Donations and Prayers continue to come in daily. - Recruited volunteers for the annual "Skate for Gold " event- Coordinated on-ice activities at the "Skate for Gold" event- Fulfilled orders for the "Heart of Gold" program- Managed inventory for "Heart of Gold" kits
