Zack Gao is a Senior Engineering Manager at Compass at Compass. He possess expertise in buzzwords, memes. Colleagues describe him as "I’ve worked with Zack for almost a year and a half ever since he joined Compass, and have seen him learn and grow tremendously; he is a great asset to any team. Zack joined as a frontend engineer, and wanted to expand his knowledge into backend. He quickly learned some of the backend technologies and our microservice architecture and started helping the team deliver. After just a few months, he led the design and implementation of a fairly complex new service, and became a de-facto owner of another critical module. He also helped onboard new engineers and interns, showing amazing and helpful attitude. In a way, he became the team’s glue, taking on any task the team needed and “protecting” some other engineers by cheerfully taking on incoming bugs. He is now a true full stack engineer; his versatility allows him to tackle different types of problems quickly, and switch between backend and frontend with ease.
