Applications Engineering Team Leader
Senior Application Engineer
I robustly test customer or product concepts (and/or prototypes) to ensure that a product can be marketed and manufactured within Amphenol guidelines, considering environmental and other considerations which affect production. I interact with ALTD Sales and BDM personnel in order to identify, define and design solutions to customer requirements, using ALTD expertise and knowledge. As an applications engineer I provide system solutions over product wherever possible and define and agree qualification plans with customers.I work with customers to identify their technical specifications and determine what documentation is required to incorporate the organisation's products into customer applications. Prepare engineering drawings, production specifications and schedules, and contract modifications to ensure that customers' technical requirements are met.I regularly design using either CAD (Computer Aided Drafting), CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems, developing application notes that clearly describe how the organisation's products should be used in the customers' target application.
Application Engineer
Design Engineer & Creo Software Officer
As a Design Engineer my duties include designing, verifying, preparing and maintaining detailed technical design drawings, schematics and specifications using CAD. I am also heaving involved in creating and updating manufacturing instructions required for new and existing products. I work closely with design briefs to resolve design details and discrepancies as well as preparing unusual and complex designs in the Aerospace and Military fields. I work closely with other departments to ensure new and existing products flow through the product life cycle, with help of our on site manufacturing shop, and distribution across the world. My role as Creo Software Officer allows me to complete routine PDM database activities and audits, develop and maintain PDM/ CAM working practices providing support to the Engineering team, compile work instructions whilst developing a PDM strategy and other day to day responsibilities.
Design Engineer
After a successful year at Stovax during my University placement year, I was lucky enough to be offered a job when I finished my degree. My role as a Design Engineer at Stovax allows me to use a variety of different software including SolidEdge, Keyshot and Photoshop. My skills in CAD have allowed me to design wood burning stoves and bring them to life using the latest rendering package. This then allows me to present my ideas and designs in meetings to showcase my work. My main responsibilities were to see through a complete Product Life Cycle using the latest CAD technology (SolidEdge) to design, build and draw up new products as well as improving existing products to keep up to date with the latest trends in the market. In my role I was lucky enough to learn, understand and use a variety of different metal fabrication machinery. I then used these skills to build fully functional prototypes of my designs. As well as building my own prototypes with our prototype engineers in our metal workshop, I was also lucky enough to visit over sea suppliers to get a better understanding of their manufacturing capabilities and work with them to develop my designs. This has helped me understand building and designing for manufacture as well as designing for specific suppliers. My skills in KeyShot and Photoshop means I’ve been able to create realistic renders to put into our brochures and help with the marketing of my designs.I have seen my designs from a 3D CAD model, through to be sold in show rooms across the world and have been lucky enough to be part of every stage in the Product Life Cycle.
Assistant Design Engineer
As part of my sandwich degree I completed a year’s work in industry as a design engineer for Stovax. A company that specialises in wood burning stoves. It was my job to design and engineer new products as well as improving existing ones. I was using a CAD software (SolidEdge) to create my designs but I was also involved in the manufacturing and testing of the products at our in-house work shop and testing facilities. During my time at Stovax, I was lucky enough to have two of my designs manufactured, that are now being sold across Europe and Australia.
Ielts Adminastrator
Working within Eurocentres, an English language school, helped me gain skills in communication with foreign students which improved my confidence and decision making skills. My work requires me to be very organised which I feel is very beneficial in the work place. My role in IELTS was a very high pressured one but also very rewarding as it requires me to deal with student applications and their exams, which inevitably decides whether they get into university or allows them to apply internationally.
