Views and opinions expressed here are my own. I am a hard-working Senior at Purdue University West Lafayette with a cumulative 3.94 GPA. Five out of my six semesters at Purdue concluded with a 4.0 GPA. In addition to my major field of study of Physics, I am currently pursuing a minor in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). Experienced in micro and nano fabrication, physics research, code development. Co-founded the Quantum Student Organization at Purdue University in Fall 2023. We serve to inform people and students of “quantum,” in general. Along the way, we have and will continue to foster an extensive network of quantum-friendly folks in both academia and industry. To me, this network is a chance to stay up-to-date and well-versed with a variety of quantum topics.Experimented in Quantum Information Science with Dr. Alex Ruichao Ma. The lab works to craft novel types of superconducting qubits. Lots of work goes into understanding the theory behind my research. I learned a ton about quantum information science, microwave engineering, and nanofabrication techniques, among many other things. Completed research project in Health Physics with Dr. Aaron Specht, analyzing amounts of heavy metals in rat soft tissues using micro x-ray fluorescence. I collected data that shows a correlation of gunshot residue exposure to the presentation of Lead (Pb) and Calcium (Ca) into the heart and lung of rats. A paper is being written, in which I will be published as an undergraduate author. I spearheaded a recruiting campaign leading to a ~200% increase in volunteer numbers as a member of the Purdue Space Day Executive Board. I have experience with Autodesk Inventor and Ansys Electronics Desktop. I am experienced with the Purdue EPICS engineering design process. I have gained first-hand experience working with a project partner/client professionally. Skilled in Python and C Programming and CAD/CAM with Autodesk Fusion 360.

Quantum Computing Research Assistant (Dr. Alex Ruichao Ma Research Group)Purdue University May 2023 - PresentWest Lafayette, Indiana, United StatesSuperconducting quantum circuits are one of the leading realizations of qubit. Among these qubits there exists a special type known as a topological insulator (TI) transmon qubit. This lab is working to craft an effective TI transmon with a Copper 3D resonant cavity. We need to understand where the microwave losses come from in this recently made prototype. An Aluminum 3D resonant cavity was used, which is superconducting at low temperatures, offering a higher quality (Q) factor of the resonator than Copper. In this Aluminum 3D qubit architecture, we used the scientific method to find out which fabrication step or material causes the most loss. In a cryogenic environment of ~10 mK, the Q factor and full width at half maximum (FWHM) were measured of each variation of the 3D cavity. The Q factor and FWHM were compared in each configuration experiment. We have identified sources of microwave losses in these specific qubit materials used. The materials used may not be perfect for qubits and other materials should be explored. Otherwise, efforts can be made to reduce the losses in these materials in any way possible. Another prospect is using a superconducting cavity to study the lossiness of materials. The results from this experiment are meant to provide insight into the fabrication of the 3D TI transmon. -

Purdue Space Day Executive Board MemberSchool Of Aeronautics And Astronautics, Purdue University Apr 2022 - Nov 2022West Lafayette, Indiana, United StatesPurdue Space Day is a space-themed kids camp for students of grades 3-8. This event includes an astronaut presentation, as well as three activities for the students. This event occurs sometime in October or November, depending on the year. For this day to happen, we must recruit many Purdue students and staff as volunteers. My job, as Volunteer Coordinator, was to organize as many volunteers as possible, as well as replace any people who can no longer volunteer. -
